Indie pop-rockers WALLOWS marked an awesome return with their new album “Model”. This new year, the boys aren’t stepping off the stage just yet… They just announced dates for their “MODEL & MORE” TOUR, kicking off this spring. Following up an extensive North American tour in support of the LP, the boys are marching right back up after the holidays. As they embarked on the biggest tour of their careers, it seemed like the boys had too much fun!
Bestfriends Dylan Minnette, Braeden Lemasters, and Cole Preston formed their band back in 2011 when they were still teens. In 2017, they released their first song “Pleaser” under the Wallows moniker, and the rest was history. Making it to #2 on the Spotify Global Viral 50 chart, the boys kept on dropping new hits that would eventually multiply their listeners and fanbase. In 2019, they released “Are You Bored Yet?” featuring Clairo, which eventually bagged a 3x Platinum certification from the RIAA. Releasing their debut LP “Nothing Happens”, a whole lot surely happened as the boys received rave reviews from critics and found their fanbase multiplying like crazy.
Now, they’ve got their most experimental and confident body of work yet. “Model” marks the band’s third studio LP, sharing their latest roster of hits — “Your Apartment”, “Calling After Me”, “Bad Dream”, “A Warning"”, and “You (Show Me Where My Days Went)”. DORK says the album “coasts through a plethora of 2000s indie references throughout its pacy twelve tracks and winds up being, contrary to the title, a little bit imperfect,” describing how the boys created some leaner and meaner songs in the mix.
Working on the album in “hyperspeed”, “We didn’t have time to overthink things,” said Braeden Lemasters in an interview with DORK, sharing how they recorded 25 songs within two months. “I was really happy, very in love, just on cloud nine. I feel like the best version of myself right now; that’s the mentality I had. That reflects in some of the lyrics that I wrote: more playful, light on his feet and stuff like that,” Dylan said while explaining how they all felt good, and how the band felt so free with creativity and inspiration.
Known for their sunny energies in indie pop, Wallows definitely delivers amidst the rush of it all. With hopes high up, “We want this to be the most approachable album we’ve made. I want people to put this on if they’re not really a fan of us, and be gripped immediately,” Dylan told Rolling Stone about “Model”.
With the goal of creating songs that make you want to come back, it seems like crowds and even the bands themselves couldn’t get enough of LIVE music. Taking over the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, get ready to feel everyone’s infectious energy at Florida’s favorite outdoor concert venue.
