In 2007, the couple - Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi brought their respective bands to share the stage on tour. After resounding acclaim, standing ovations, and much fanfare, it became clear that their blues energy has created something special. Deciding to merge the two bands, 2010 marked a new era - showcasing what we now know as Tedeschi Trucks Band. Kicking it all off with their first performance at the Savannah Music Frestival, it all became a revolution of blues and soul. The 12-piece ensemble is known to be warriors on the road, setting foot at over 200 gigs in a year. Since 2011's "Revelator" came out, their Grammy Award-winning debut showcased their burning passion for authentic sounds that's grounded in roots, blending blues, rock, jazz, gospel, funk, soul, and country in the mix. Moreover, they bagged Blues Music Awards for their succeeding hits.
Fast forward, the band took everyone by surprise witha four-set studio record "I Am the Moon". Each album comes with a special film, serving up an immersive experience of romance, faith, soul, and humanity in what's pretty much their most ambitious work yet. WXPN agrees that it's their "finest and most adventurous" record yet, going through 24 songs that strike the heart in different ways.
"You always want to do something bigger and thematic. This is the first time it happened naturally," Trucks told The Albany Herald.
A dozen members strong, the Tedeschi Trucks Band is keeping the soul legacy alive. With their most ambitious project to date, they truly are unstoppable forces in the industry.
As fans continue to ride the wave and go all out in support of this huge bunch - blues, rock, and soul are combos that'll continue to live on. Another year of nonstop fun on the road, make sure you have the best seats by booking those tickets now!
