Slowdive Tickets
St. Augustine Amphitheatre | St. Augustine, Florida
Few bands have been as controversial and at the same time influential as these Brits who are going to be making their way to the St Augustine Amphitheatre on Sunday, November 10th. Slowdive was one of the precursors of what we see now as a mix between electronic music and rock—mixing synthetic sounds with traditional rock beats. They walked so others could run! On this night in St. Augustine they promise to bring their traditional beats mixed with their always impressive light show with lo-fi songs like Kisses.
On top of their unmistakable vibe, they’re one of those bands that just excels in open venues. This makes the St Augustine Amphitheatre a place that’s right up their alley! Although the concert is on November 10th, Florida weather is still expected to be “decent enough” to ensure you’re comfortable outdoors. The Reading natives certainly won’t have a problem if it gets a bit colder than expected. Make sure to click the get tickets button early to have a chance to pick the perfect spot to enjoy the show.
Perhaps the music that Slowdive brought to the table was a little bit ahead of its time. Back in 1991, when they released their first album, Richey Edwards, guitarist and lyricist of Manic Street Preachers, mentioned, "We will always hate Slowdive more than Hitler." That man isn’t precisely good company in any situation. Then again, there’s something there when you’re able to evoke such a level of hate as an artist. Slowdive was more or less able to kind of roll with the punches through the mid-90s. Ultimately, though, they made a decision that has proven to be wise, even if a bit of luck landed them where they are today!
They decided to split up in 1995. The band went on a super long hiatus until 2014. Obviously, the music landscape was completely different at this point in time. A lot of the beats that they had pioneered in the mid-90s and even their signature light shows fell right in line with the trends of the time. There’s no word on if people in the UK still hate them more than Hitler! What is true is that they’ve been able to find more consistency in the later years. They even released “Sugar for the Pill” in one of their albums of the second iteration of the group. It’s become one of the more popular songs from the band. Regardless, if you want to know what electro-rock sounded like in the mid-90s with a lo-fi tendency, you have to head to the St Augustine Amphitheatre on November 10th to find out.
Thanks to the design of the Amphitheater, every single seat has at least a decent view of the stage. If you want to be closer to the band, there are going to be pit tickets available. Now, if you are trying to make sure that you avoid the wind on this night as a priority, seats in some of the middle levels could be ideal. The crowd can help shield you from the Florida wind chill. It’s not too severe usually, but there’s no shame in being preventive. Click the get tickets button to have a chance to choose where you want to sit on this night.
