JJ Grey & Mofro started in 1990 and signed their first deal with Fog Records in 2001. The band, at the time, was known as Mofro. They released their debut album, Blackwater, in the same year, which became quite a hit. In 2004 and 2007, they released their second and third albums, respectively. The third album, Lochloosa, was released in 2007 when they changed their name to JJ Grey & Mofro. JJ Grey is the band’s lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, followed by guitarist Andrew Trube, Hammond organ player Anthony Farell, Drummer Anthony Cole, Trumpeter Dennis Marion, and Bass player Todd Smallie.
JJ Grey & Mofro take inspiration from Jim Reeves and Big Bad John for much of their music. Their music is an excellent combination of funk, blues, rock, and soul genres. Their songs often reflect on the region of Jacksonville, Florida, where their head member grew up, JJ Grey. They have played at many famous festivals such as Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo, Wakarusa and the All Good Festival. Their live performances are always applauded and some fans feel that they do much better on stage than in the studio. Their energy is one of the reasons why fans are always looking forward to their events and hence, ticket demand for this one is on the rise too. Make sure you grab yours right now before the event is sold out!
