Lavender Days

Caamp, born out of Columbus, Ohio, released the earthy, jubilant album - Lavender Days - in 2022, and we still can’t get enough. The opus looks at those in-between days that make up everyday moments — not the best or the most exciting days, and definitely not the worst or the hardest, but those full of the little pleasures of life. Taylor Meier, the group’s singer and head songwriter, invented the phrase “Lavender Days” to describe them — and it stuck. He said the phrase came to him out of nowhere, “like a coconut out of the sky,” he said in laughter. Why lavender? “It’s nostalgic. It can remind you of your grandmother’s perfume or maybe the air freshener in your mom’s car. It can summon up all of these incredible memories and transport you to those in-between days, which I think everybody remembers with more clarity than the big events.”

Caamp have been penning hits and singing all about those “lavender days” for more than a decade. Their stunning love ballads are tinted with melancholy and determination, and we are obsessed. Taylor Meier and talented bandmate Evan Westfall first met as students at Athens’ Ohio University, taking to the stage at local coffeehouses and growing their following. With the addition of the ingenious Matt Vinson on bass and Joseph Kavalec on keyboards, they developed a loyal grassroots fanbase well beyond the Buckeye State.
