After a seven-year hiatus, the emo rock band from Long Island is marking a huge comeback. This year, Brand New returns to the stage with a highly-anticipated 2025 tour, following last year's one-off gigs. around Dallas, Newport, Ky., and Nashville. Reuniting with their fans for the first time since 2017, it's gonna be a huge moment in rock history.
The Jesse Lacey-led band had just released their 2017 album "Science Fiction" which marked their first #1 LP on the Billboard 200. At the time, it was the band's first new album after eight years of waiting. Shortly after a couple of shows, the band disappeared from the public eye following allegations against the frontman. He admitted that his actions had caused "pain and harm to a number of people."
Lacey released a statement of his apologies at the time, owning up to his mistakes. Now, the band is ready to head back and bring closure to their fans following their abrupt halt.
Over the past few months, the band performed one-off gigs and LAcey also had a solo performance in Nashville last March. The intimate set shared classic favorites and new music, including a song "Death."
Speaking about the passing of Miles, his stepson who passed away in 2021, "Grief is a very hard thing to navigate, and I have found that for me, music lessens the poison of it," Lacey told the crowd, as cited from Billboard.
With a full tour coming right up, fans have been coming together in support of the emo rockers. While official deets of new music is yet to be heard, it seems that Brand New is testing the waters for this new era. Opening the door once again, we've got our fingers crossed that new music is heading our way sometime soon.
Formed in year 2000, the American rock band quickly found their breakthrough when their debut album "Your Favorite Weapon" came out in October 2001. With a punk-infused sound led by their evocative lyrics, listeners were drawn in by their infectious energy. Their sophomore album "Deja Entendu" (which sold 500k+ copies in the U.S.) gained them a cult following for their genre-defying twists. Its singles "The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows" and "Sic Transit Gloria... Glory Fades" earned them their first top-40 entries in the UK.
In 2007, their album "The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me" shared their biggest single "Jesus Christ" - certified Gold by the RIAA. After 2009's successful LP "Daisy", the band took a long eight-year break before releasing the critically-acclaimed album "Science Fiction" in 2017. A career-defining feat as the record debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, their impact in the emo & alt-rock scene is a turning point.
